About us
Dinette was founded in 2015 by Mathieu Lachapelle and Hélène Mallette, both of whom came from the publishing world. Driven by a love of print, they joined forces and rallied diverse editorial, photography and illustration talents to publish their first issue. In its first year, Dinette was distributed in major banners as well as in a network of independent boutiques, coffee shops, corner stores and bookstores. The magazine soon appeared on newsstands in other countries and became the most widely distributed independent Canadian magazine in Europe.
Winner of several prestigious awards, including back-to-back Gold Medals for Best Lifestyle Magazine in 2020 and 2021 at the National Magazine Awards, the publication is recognized for its quality content, design and artistry. Combining editorial content, recipes and features that tie into a carefully selected and renewed theme each issue, Dinette offers compelling narrative stories accompanied by ingeniously composed photos, all presented in a simple, pure and thoughtful signature aesthetic.
In addition to two publications per year, Dinette also shares pieces of its visual identity by offering calendars and landscape posters to its community.
In 2021, with 21 issues published, more than a hundred collaborators from all over the world, Dinette takes the experience even further: as a culmination of all the stories told over time, it presents a range of handmade products in collaboration with the creative minds that gravitate around its universe
